DEVOTION ~ SERVE WITH DIGNITY
Theme: Serve With Dignity
Text: 2 Kings 22:1-2
22 Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath. 2 And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
We are called at every stage of our lives to serve God and the people He has entrusted in our care. Don't let the fame and pleasures of others hedge you into doing what everyone is doing when especially it goes contrary to God's will. Josiah was only eight years old when he began to reign but did what was right in the sight of God.
Godly counsel is one key thing to shape how we carryout responsibilities when serving. Our standard should not be worldly set but rather it must be set according to God's standard. We can emulate the good deeds of our fathers before us. To keep the godly nature running in the family or ministry, we need to nurture all members in the Lord.
If we understand who we are in Christ, then we will serve with dignity not being tossed or swayed by deceit beautifully wrapped and presented to us. Just like Josiah, we need not turn aside from God's principles to the right or to the left but walk faithfully and diligently in God's precepts. Our ministry, family, career, education, etc will blossom and extend well if we serve in every capacity whether small or great in dignity.
Prayer: Father, I'm grateful for the position I occupy (list them:husband, wife, parent, church leader, CEO, chief, etc..). I pray the Holy Spirit help me to serve well and to do what's dignifying to Your name than taint Your name with evil. I'll seek Your face in all things and walk in Your precepts in Jesus' name have I prayed. AMEN!
So HELP ME LORD to do your WILL in Jesus name l PRAY. AMEN
