DEVOTION ~ DUE DILIGENCE
4 soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich. 5 A righteous man hates lying, but a wicked man is loathsome and comes to shame. 6 Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless, but wickedness overthrows the sinner. 7 There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches. 8 The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, but the poor does not hear rebuke.
Our journey in life comes with challenges which could uplift us when we overcome them or bring us down when we are unable to do what's best during such circumstances. It is for this reason, we ought to be diligent. Due diligence must be taken in life irrespective of who/what we are (whether as a follower or leader; rich or poor; dark or white).
The soul is always on the demand for something each passing moment. These desires of the soul (either spiritual or physical) can only be satisfied with diligence. The lazy man desires but takes no action to achieve his desires, such a man can be likened to a lukewarm Christian. Lukewarm Christians keeps promising themselves to surrender completely to God and live a spirit filled life yet do nothing to walk the talk. They will remain empty. But if they strive to draw near to God, the Holy Spirit will satisfy that hunger in them to make them spiritually rich.
As dear beloved children of the Lord, we need to do away with lukewarmness for it only makes us poor both spiritually and physically. Having the righteousness of Christ as a seal on us, we need to be careful not to do evil and our desires must be in line with the Lord's commands. If our desires begin to conflict with God's will, then wickedness is taking seed in us. The wicked is loose in character as his craftiness compounds lies and deceit in all he does. This will overthrown him and bring him to nothingness. His doom is not far from him.
The wicked in pride and arrogance thinks he is rich yet he has nothing, for he is a perishing soul that is naked and in great need for salvation. But the soul that knows God is rich as the Lord adorns him with glory. On the Day of the Lord, the righteous shall be ransomed with divine riches in Christ Jesus whereas damnation shall be the portion of the wicked. Run a due diligence test on your life and appraise yourself to determine whether you are a righteous man or a wicked man. The next step you make should be guided by due diligence obtained from the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Dear God, You're an orderly God and all things You created took to Your orderliness. Guide me Holy Spirit divine to be diligent in every sphere of my life. Help me to walk the talk of faith with due diligence that I may not miss the crown of victory and glory. This I pray for in Jesus' name. AMEN!
