DEVOTION ~ GIVING AN ORDERLY ACCOUNT
Theme: Giving an Orderly Account
Text: Luke 1:1-4
1 Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us, 3 it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus, 4 that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed.
As leaders in ministry, organization, family and all walks of life, we need to know and understand what we really stand for. Luke intends to educate Theophilus in the faith and he was careful to instruct him on the truth than just giving him words or sweet talks. He made reference to others who have been inspired to give the account as witnesses.
There's the need to keep proper records of events around us so we can give accurate account. If we fail to keep good records, we are more likely to omit useful information or add irrelevant ones. As events unfold, we need to keep track by writing them down.
Every important happening in our lives needs to be documented well to serve as a guide to the generations after us. When we're at meeting, workshops, seminars, church service, observing quiet time, etc, there's the need to have writing materials to help us keep records. This guides us when reflecting on all that we've done. To be a truthful witness is to learn how to write or record events as they unfold. Build a strong self image by always giving accurate information. An orderly word spoken ushers you into a fulfilled life.
Prayer: Father, the truth is one and we must hold on to it as such. Help me to speak only what is right and restrain me from speaking if I don't have much knowledge of the subject matter. Make me an example of an honest witness in all I do. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
