DEVOTION ~ LET THE LORD ESTABLISH HIS WORD

Theme: Let the Lord Establish His Word
Text: 1 Samuel 1:19-23

19 Then they rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her. 20 So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.” 21 Now the man Elkanah and all his house went up to offer to the Lord the yearly sacrifice and his vow. 22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “Not until the child is weaned; then I will take him, that he may appear before the Lord and remain there forever.” 23 So Elkanah her husband said to her, “Do what seems best to you; wait until you have weaned him. Only let the Lord establish His word.” Then the woman stayed and nursed her son until she had weaned him.

The mercies of the Lord located Hannah and she conceived. She gave birth to a son whom she named Samuel because, she has asked for him from the Lord. She did not forget the source of her provision. This must be how we also ought to acknowledge the source of all our substances. Whenever there's an increase in our lives, we need to direct the praise to God.

Elkanah has also been faithful in his yearly visit to Shiloh to sacrifice and keep to his vow to the Lord. As children of God, we must inculcate this attitude of Elkanah in our daily lives by always seeking God's face and approval in all we do. His wife Hannah, could not go out with him to Shiloh because, she want to wait until she weans Samuel. So that once he appears before God, he will stay there forever. We must also remain faithful and loyal to our calling.

If we have surrendered our lives to God, then we must not relent in keeping to it. We must allow the Lord's will to be established in our lives. We must not in anyway try to outwit God, for He knows every little thought that creeps into our mind. We have no power to truncate the will of God so let's humble ourselves before Him.

Prayer: Bless the Lord O my soul, for His benefits enjoyed each passing moment. I pray Your will be established in my life, family, ministry, career, and in every sphere of my life. Teach me how to be faithful and loyal with every gift You bestow on me, that I may use it to glorify Your Holy name even now and forevermore in Jesus' name have I asked. AMEN!
