DEVOTION ~ RESPONDING TO BREAKTHROUGHS

Theme: Responding to Breakthroughs
Text: Luke 1:18-25

18 And Zacharias said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.” 19 And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. 20 But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.” 21 And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he lingered so long in the temple. 22 But when he came out, he could not speak to them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, for he beckoned to them and remained speechless. 23 So it was, as soon as the days of his service were completed, that he departed to his own house. 24 Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying, 25 “Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.”

The challenge with most believers is how to respond to breakthroughs and miracles from the Lord. It doesn't matter your level of Christian maturity, if you're not empowered by the Holy Spirit, you're likely to mess it all up. Zacharias has waited all his life hoping his wife gets pregnant but when the news was delivered he chose to doubt the message. His doubts and disbelieve comes from his perspective of thier natural form: he is old and so his wife who in our dispensation we would have tagged to be in her menopause.

Your response to miracles and breakthroughs in life will determine how effective it will carry you through. The angel Gabriel pronounced the spirit of muteness on Zacharias for his disbelieve. In some situations, some couldn't fully enjoy their breakthroughs just like Zacharias. If you don't know how to respond, just worship the Lord with hymns and songs. It will intensify the breakthroughs.

As believers, we also need to support our leaders with prayers in every capacity they are serving. Our prayers will keep them focus and help them to make right decisions towards the progress of the church, corporations, family and the nation. What they perceived of Zacharias is true for indeed he had seen a vision for his own son. Take note, he never left the duties undone but did it to the end. This should be your attitude too when you realized you've messed up. Keep working and God will do what He has promised to fulfill in your life. God's Word is also accomplished for it doesn't return to Him void. Elizabeth really took seed to God's glory. Keep your eyes on God and He will fulfill the desires of your heart.

Prayer: I praise You Lord, for You have taken my reproach away and blessed me with Your goodness. I pray for forgiveness in doubting your miracles and breakthroughs in my life. Increase my faith in You O God, that I'll not be defined by circumstances but I'll trust You to accomplish the desires of my heart according to Your perfect will for my life. This I ask for in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
