DEVOTION ~ SHOUT JOYFULLY TO THE LORD!
Theme: Shout Joyfully to the Lord!
Text: Psalm 98:4-6
4 Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;
Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. 5 Sing to the Lord with the harp,
With the harp and the sound of a psalm,
6 With trumpets and the sound of a horn;
Shout joyfully before the Lord, the King.
Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. 5 Sing to the Lord with the harp,
With the harp and the sound of a psalm,
6 With trumpets and the sound of a horn;
Shout joyfully before the Lord, the King.
When we lift up songs to glorify God, it must be done joyfully. A cheerful spirit is always joyful. The joy of the heart and spirit stir the desire to sing melodiously. Dear friends in Christ, even if your voice isn't that good but there's an inner joy while singing, it soothes listeners than an embittered soul leading a great choir to sing.
The psalmist is calling on all to shout joyfully to the Lord. This must be done with songs, that proceeds from rejoicing lips ready to sing and praise God. Hallelujah! When we are stirred in spirit joyfully, any element around us will serve as a musical instrument. It could be your cutlery, tables, shoes, lips, hands, pens/pencils, keys, horns, and just name it. The harp, trumpet and horn are musical instruments that supports the tune and melody of the songs we sing. So, anything that can create great accompanying sounds while we sing must be played.
Are you waiting for that guitar, piano, microphone, tambourine, or other musical instruments before you join the choir or sing to God's glory? Wake up dear beloved in the Lord, for nature has provided you with things that you can use to joyfully praise the name of the Lord. May the Lord grant you divine melodious voice to sing His praise daily.
Prayer: I will shout joyfully of Your mercies and love. I will sing and praise You while I have breath. May I sing to Your glory in my daily activities and even in my sleep, cause me to join the angelic hosts to sing Your praise. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
