DEVOTION ~ SPEAK TO YOUR POSSESSIONS

Theme: Speak to Your Possessions
Text: Luke 1:76-80

76 “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways, 77 To give knowledge of salvation to His people by the remission of their sins, 78 Through the tender mercy of our God, with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us; 79 To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” 80 So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel.

The power of the mouth must never be understated. Be mindful the words that come out of your mouth. For the tongue has the ability to build or destroy. We are continuing with Zacharias prophecies. In today's devotion, we will see the decrees Zacharias made over his son John.

He said, the child shall be called the prophet of the Most High; to go before the Lord and prepare His ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the remission of their sins. The Lord has blessed you with marriage, child, career, certificates, ministry, etc in life. What you desire to see of these blessings in the future, depends on what you decree today.

First of all, identify your possessions with the Lord. Zacharias identified his son as prophet of the Most High. Likewise must you see your possessions as the Lord's tool to bring about change not only in your life but the whole world. He as well mentioned, John will go before the Lord and prepare His ways. Your possessions must be ready to be used in the service of God. If you hold it back from God, you will not enjoy the benefits. You're also to use it as a means of accomplishing the Great Commission just as John is to bring his people to the knowledge of God's salvation.

Secondly, at all times, welcome the visitation of the Holy Spirit. Zacharias proclaimed, the tender mercies of God brought about a visit of the Dayspring from on high. When the Holy Spirit gives you a nudging, you must be alert to respond so that you can walk in the precepts of the Lord. The Holy Spirit is your teacher and He will teach you in the Light of God so you do not walk in darkness. The Light around you will illumine to others to come to God. It will also guide your feet into the way of peace.

Finally, you must grow and likewise all your possessions. Do not become static in life, give room for spiritual and physical development. Don't let your present location or position deter you from advancing in your spiritual, academic, and financial fields. Invest in yourself so that when your time of promotion comes, you will fit well into the calling.

Prayer: Thank You Lord, for blessing me with all that I have. Forgive me for not using them to advance Your Kingdom. Holy Spirit divine, teach me how I must use what I have to bless/profit others and to draw them to God's saving grace. Make me shine wherever I find myself. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
