DEVOTION ~ THE UNDEFILED
Theme: The Undefiled
Text: Psalm 119:1-4
119 Blessed are the undefiled in the way,
Who walk in the law of the Lord!
Who walk in the law of the Lord!
2 Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! 3 They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways. 4 You have commanded us to keep Your precepts diligently.
The Lord God is pure and holy. He has called us to come into this purified life through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If we are in Christ, then we need to walk in His way. He has said He is the way the truth and the life and without Him, no one can go to the Father. The psalmist proclaims, blessed are the undefiled in the way. The undefiled in the way, are those who have kept their garment of purity intact having been washed by the Blood of Jesus.
Being new creations in Christ Jesus, we need to keep the garment pure and undefiled by walking according to the will of God. Irrespective of the circumstances surrounding us, we must keep in mind what the Lord has done and can do in our lives. The testimony of the power of God encourages us to seek Him wholeheartedly. It helps us to also flee from sin and its enticement.
If we walk in the way of the Lord, we as well detest iniquities by being true to keeping His command. The Lord has commanded us His children to keep His precepts diligently. Christ said to the Apostle Peter if you love me, keep my commandments. Which implies the love we have for the Father, will make us not go contrary to His will and also, our love towards the brethren will hinder us from doing evil to them. As we have declared to be the Lord's vessels, may we keep our sanctity and be undefiled in any way.
Prayer: Most Pure and Holy God, unto You alone be praise and honour for making me anew in Christ Jesus. As You've adorned me in purity, help me by the strength of the Holy Spirit to never defile my garment. Equip me to be spiritually and physically alert of the deceitful schemes of the devil and his agents. Make me decern Your glory in all things in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ have I asked. AMEN!
