DEVOTION ~ WHAT'S YOUR PORTION: PUNISHMENT OR REWARD?

Theme: What's Your Portion: Punishment or Reward?
Text: Jeremiah 35:17-19

17 “Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘Behold, I will bring on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the doom that I have pronounced against them; because I have spoken to them but they have not heard, and I have called to them but they have not answered.’ ” 18 And Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts and done according to all that he commanded you, 19 therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not lack a man to stand before Me forever.” ’ ”

Our decisions and actions in life either bring punishment or reward our ways. This is applicable in both our physical and spiritual relationships. As we conclude the divine lesson from the Rechabites, we will noticed the nation Israel was punished by God whilst the Rechabites were rewarded. The wicked will be punished while the righteous rewarded.

Dear beloved in the Lord, these experiences come our way each day. As children of the Most High, we should learn to seek God's approval in all things than that of mortals. Every evil step will take brings punishment our way likewise does our righteous steps bring rewards. If a person decides to commit fornication or adultery, no one will see him/her but remember, he/she can't hide from STIs or other spiritual consequences of such sin.

The Lord said all the doom He has pronounced on His nation shall come to pass. Take time and ask yourself if you're experiencing the doom of the Lord in your life. It's time to confess your sins and become penitent. An act of faith to please God will bring gladness in your life. Joy unspeakable will locate every sphere of your life. I pray that you choose the portion of reward and may the Good Lord grant you an obedient spirit.

Prayer: Father, thank You for calling me into Your marvelous righteousness through Christ Jesus. Forgive me for not heeding to Your voice. Help me to do what pleases You. Make me enjoy the rewards of obeying You and may every benefit that comes with it locate every sphere of my life even now and forevermore in Jesus' name have I prayed. AMEN!
