DEVOTION ~ WHAT'S YOUR SONG?

Theme: What's Your Song?
Text: Luke 1:46-56

46 And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. 48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. 49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. 50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation. 51 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the lowly.

53 He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty. 54 He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy, 55 As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed forever.” 56 And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her house.

There's always a song on our lips as children of God. The song we sing determines the level of faith we have in God. The infant Christians are quick to sing a lamenting song but when nudged, will begin to sing songs of encouragement. On the other hand, matured Christians sing the Lord's praise even in adversity. So the song of joy and hope comes naturally when God's glory is revealed in the situation.

Mary believed the message of the angel, received Elizabeth's words with faith and decreed it in her life. She said, henceforth all generations shall call her blessed. What song are you singing over your own life? Begin to sing positively into your life for you'll decree a thing and it shall come to pass and the light of God shall shine upon it. She acknowledged God to be the source of her lifting, this is what you also ought to understand and proclaim. Never profane the name of the Lord for His name is Holy.

It is only the song that exalts the name of God that can frustrate the doings of the proud, wicked, principalities, etc that are pompously intimidating your life. God will fill you with good things for all wealth comes from Him. But he will drive away those who are arrogantly claiming to be rich when infact they are very poor with nothing in their hands. God will never forget you if your song comes with gratitude and to glorify God. Just as Mary remained with Elizabeth, so must we also show love to the depressed, widow, orphans, barren, unemployed, etc who needs to be encouraged to also keep faith in the Lord.

If there's a song you muat sing, let it be to magnify God and to speak positively into your life, family, career, community, ministry, nation and in all things. Begin to read more psalms and write a song of your own. May the Lord favor you in every sphere of your life even as your song comes out of your mouth.

Prayer: My heart is filled with Your melody O God. I'll sing of Your praise at all times for You have been my Deliverer and Provider from ages past even unto today. I pray the Holy Spirit help me to increase my faith in the Lord. Whatever my circumstance in life, may my song of praise to You O God give me victory and divine testimonies in all things. This I pray in Jesus' name. AMEN!
