DEVOTION ~ YOUR PRAYER IS HEARD

Theme: Your Prayer is Heard
Text: Luke 1:11-17

11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. 13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

As Zacharias went about his duty, he encountered an angel of the Lord. The angel came with good news which has been his prayer for so long. The presence of the angel frightened him for he least expected to encounter an angel. If you are faithful with God, He will come through for you when you least expected. God's timing is not that of man, and His plans brings gladness to the heart that trust in Him.

Zacharias and his wife, seeks a child, just a child and they never gave God conditions of what the child should be like. However, because they have been strong and faithful with the Lord, they were blessed with a child that will bring honour to their names. Dear friends in Christ, keep praying don't give up, but support your prayers with faith and work to God's glory at all times. Then, God will answer your prayers in an amazing way you least expected. He will give you testimonies that outweigh your expectations.

When the Lord answers your prayer, be sure to do what He requires of you to fully enjoy the blessings. John, is said to be great but strong wine or drinks must not be tasted by him. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit not wine. Are you filled with the Holy Spirit or wine as the Lord has answered your prayers? If you are led by the Spirit of God, you will serve in humility and your deeds will shine as Light to those in darkness to draw near and encounter God. God will use you to change the hearts of the fathers to the children, the disobedient to the wisdom of the just and to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. That demonstrates God's love through you to a fallen generation, teaching them the fear of the Lord (for it is the beginning of wisdom) and leading them unto salvation through baptism and teaching to nurture them into matured Christians. May the Lord answer your prayers speedily in Jesus name. AMEN!

Prayer: The Yes and Amen God, I thank You for the prayers You've answered in time past, those You've answered now and those You'll be answering in the future. Even unto those prayers that won't be answered by You O God, I'm grateful for it's for my good You intended it to be so. Kindly teach me how to wait on You and when my prayers are answered, help me to understand the purpose for which You've answered me. I pray the Holy Spirit to fill me and make me a vessel of Your glory that draws men, women and children to Your presence. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
