DEVOTION ~ BE MINDFUL OF YOUR COMPANIONS

Thrme: Be Mindful of Your Companions 
Text: Proverbs 13:15-20

15 Good understanding gains favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard. 16 Every prudent man acts with knowledge, but a fool lays open his folly.17 A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful ambassador brings health. 18 Poverty and shame will come to him who disdains correction, but he who regards a rebuke will be honored. 19 A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, but it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil. 20 He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.


Associations have key role in shaping our attitudes and habits. If we keep company with good people, we will pick up their good nature likewise when we keep company with wicked people they will have influence over us. We are one with Christ and understanding this makes us obtain favour before God and whoever He chooses to favour us before. However, if we are unfaithful, our ways shall be unpleasant. Being dishonest with resources in your possession, spouse, children, parents, siblings, friends, colleagues amongst others will heap endless sorrows your way if you are exposed. The prudent will act with knowledge but the fool lays open his folly through his conduct. 

You're a messenger to the Lord, to declare His glory here on earth. If you go contrary to God's will, trouble and misery will locate your life. All that you need as guide in this world is in God's Word. If you put it aside, you will stumble and fall because, you disregard the correction of the Lord. On the other hand, if you regard God's Word, you will be honored. Your presence is medicine to those in pain, as the Holy Spirit uses you to ease burdens. Positive words shall proceed from people's mouth over your life. Blessings shall come from every angle of your life. 

Addiction is not easy to do away with, but by the help of the Holy Spirit, you can overcome it. The more you expose yourself to carnal minds, you will grow more carnally. You must therefore shun the company of fools (carnally minded souls), and keep company with the spiritually matured in the Lord. Your walk with the brethren will lead you to accomplish your God given purpose in life. The accomplishments of your desires will bring gladness and sweet melody to your soul. Walk with wise men and you will become wise. Shalom!


Prayer: Nearer to Thee O God is the desire of my soul. Acquaint me with the faithfuls in Your Vineyard that I may imitate Christ as they have done. May the four winds of the earth blow away the company of the wicked far from me and may my soul detest such companies through loving You. Your will be done in Jesus' name have I asked. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
