DEVOTION ~ CHOICES IN LIFE

Theme: Choices in Life
Text: Proverbs 13:21-25

21 Evil pursues sinners, but to the righteous, good shall be repaid. 22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous. 23 Much food is in the fallow ground of the poor, and for lack of justice there is waste. 24 He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him promptly. 25 The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul, but the stomach of the wicked shall be in want.

Life presents us with diverse choices to choose from; to be good or evil, disciplined or undisciplined, righteous or sinner. The choice we make determines the result we will get. If one chooses to remain sinful or not remorseful of his sins, then, evil will pursue him wherever he finds himself. The righteous, on the other hand will be repaid with good. His descendants will enjoy of his good name even when he has been laid to rest. The lives he has touched will do good to his generation.

Misplaced priorities can also affect the livelihood of an individual and those who are round him. For lack of justice, much food is in the fallow grounds of the poor. Failure to pay attention to the little things in life, can reduce a person to nothing. What you see as insignificant is actually the tool to catapult you to your next level. Don't underrate it, rise up and enhance it.

Discipline is a contributing factor to shaping lives and society. You ought to discipline yourself, allow others to discipline you and you must also discipline others when they go wrong. This must be done in love so as to bring the essence to whoever is being reproofed. An old adage have it that, "If you do good, you do it for yourself and if you do bad too, you're doing it for yourself". The soul of the righteous will be satisfied but that of the wicked will go unrest. Consider every choice you make carefully. Seek God's guidance and counsel in all things and He will lead you to a better ground.

Prayer: I humbly come before You this day my Lord and King. I surrender to You and choose to serve You all the days of my life. Help me to live a righteous life and to make choices that honors Your Holy Name. I ask all these in the Mighty name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. AMEN!
