DEVOTION ~ EXCHANGING THE TRUTH FOR A LIE

Theme: Exchanging the Truth for a Lie
Text: Romans 1:23-27

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. AMEN. 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.


Nature presents to us the way to live. However, if anyone decides to defy the natural norm to do otherwise, then it's evident that individual has a challenge. In yesterday's devotion, we learnt there are no excuses to why we cannot serve God well, for all things in creation attest His existence. Today, we will look at how the Lord gave the ungodly up to their uncleanness. These individuals, have defy the natural norm by submitting to the creation instead of the Creator. 

As was mentioned yesterday, anything prioritized above God, must be done away with for what it implies is that, one has exchanged the truth for a lie (by worshipping and obeying the creation instead of the Creator). In gratifying the lust of their hearts, the ungodly dishonored their bodies among themselves. This dispicable behavior is manifesting in our age where some advocate gayism and lesbianism as human rights. A true child of God, must never endorse or encourage such abominable practices for it go against the will of God. 

Dear beloved in the Lord, you must not in any way go contrary to what the Lord has instituted, for carnal human standards which are detestable before God. It's a shame for lesbians and gays to be mentioned as part of the body of Christ (the church). What is of the Lord, can never be likened to the harlot. Since this cannot be, that's why God gave the ungodly up to their uncleanness as they have become one with filth and sin (1 Corinthians 6:15-17). These unnatural deeds of the ungodly, comes with consequences (penalties) which is due them for engaging in such a detestable act through complicated health issues, psychological trauma, emotional disorders and unfortunately missing out in God's glory. To be one with God, keep to His command and let the truth be your watchword. 


Prayer: Divine and Supreme Creator, take glory and honor for all You've provided for us in nature. Forgive our folly for not adhering to Your perfect directives in our lives. Come Holy Spirit into our hearts and give us the conviction to do the right thing in choosing our lives' partners, making decisions on human rights, reaching to others with the truth and becoming one with God through Christ Jesus. This I pray in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked.
