DEVOTION ~ UPHOLD MY STEPS O GOD

Theme: Uphold My Steps O God
Text: Psalm 17:1-5

17 Hear a just cause, O Lord,
Attend to my cry; Give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips. Let my vindication come from Your presence; Let Your eyes look on the things that are upright. You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. Concerning the works of men, by the word of Your lips, I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer. Uphold my steps in Your paths, that my footsteps may not slip.

It is through prayer that any child of God can communicate with Him. God knows every heart and what the mind is even plotting. It's therefore unprofitable coming to God's presence with a pretentious heart in prayer. The psalmist proclaimed his prayers are not from deceitful lips and asks for God's vindication. Dear beloved in the Lord, your vindication can only be found in Jesus Christ.

Your life must be well balanced by desiring to live an upright life and to see the will of God established in the earth. Serve the Lord faithfully in secret and in the public. Do not live a double life in the Lord for God sees them all. He will not have any delight with a lukewarm Christian, for He has said, He will vomit you out of His mouth (Revelations 3:15-16).

It is only by the help of the Holy Spirit, you can live a chaste life. Avail yourself to the study of God's Word and shun evil company. Be not lagging in diligence but rather fervent in prayer and serve God in truth and in spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to uphold your steps in God's path that you may not slip from the way of the Lord.

Prayer: In You O Jehovah is all fullness of uprightness. I am but weak without the strength of the Holy Spirit. I ask the fellowship of the Holy Spirit in all things I do that I may please Thee O my Righteous King and Judge. This I pray in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
