DEVOTION ~ WITHOUT EXCUSE
Theme: Without Excuse
Text: Romans 1:18-23
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
God is holy and He is the Owner of all things in the universe. This is known to everyone including even the atheist who has refused the existence of God. God's wrath is revealed from heaven against ungodliness, unrighteousness and suppressing of the truth against those who indulge in such acts.
The knowledge of God, is revealed in His perfect creation that is beyond science. His power and splendor is evident from ancient times to now. There's therfore no excuse for anyone to deny the existence of God and what He requires of all humans. Dear beloved in the Lord, you are to be an example to draw others to the knowledge of God. How do you make known God to others around you? If you decide to make mockery of God through jokes, you're not different from those who will experience the wrath of God. Your words are suppressing the truth of God by sounding to others as though what's in the Bible is really not important to heed to.
There's no turning back in your Christian life, you can't go back to the world for you are no longer a part of it. Your duty is to glorify and be thankful to God for all His provisions in your life. If you choose to do otherwise, then your heart has been darkened making you foolish in ungodliness. Reducing the place of God in your life for idols (prioritizing wealth, beauty, phone, and other valuables above God, makes them idols in your life), makes you unwise. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is insight or understanding. Drop every idol in your life today for you have no excuse to escape the wrath of God if you remain in sin. Be godly, righteous and make known the truth of God's Word in all things and at all places.
Prayer: Thank You Lord, for revealing Yourself to me each passing day. I pray for a godly spirit to manifest in whatever I do. May the garment of righteousness adorn me through Christ never be stained with unrighteous deeds but rather shine whiter with good deeds. May I never forsake the truth but make it known even now and forevermore in Jesus name. AMEN!
