DEVOTION ~ YOUR FOUNDATION HAS BEEN LAID
Theme: Your Foundation Has Been Laid
Text: Isaiah 44:26-28
26 Who confirms the word of His servant, and performs the counsel of His messengers; Who says to Jerusalem, ‘You shall be inhabited,’ To the cities of Judah, ‘You shall be built,’ And I will raise up her waste places; 27 Who says to the deep, ‘Be dry! And I will dry up your rivers’; 28 Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd, and he shall perform all My pleasure, saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built,” And to the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.” ’
We've seen how God can frustrate the works of the wicked and render the darkened wisdom of the unrighteous to foolishness in yesterday's devotion. Today, we will be looking at the divine foundation laid out for those who believe in the Lord. Before one can be established, he needs to have a well built foundation if not, his struggles will become useless. So it is, with anyone who doesn't build his life on Jesus. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11).
To those who take counsel from the Lord, He confirms their message of hope whereas that of the wicked is frustrated. God has the power to help you build and possess your inheritance if you depend on Him in all things. Your deeds in the Lord will determine the kind of building you'll put up and how it will endure through the test of time. Now if anyone builds on the foundation of Jesus Christ with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire (1 Corinthians 3:12-15).
As you are in Christ, there's a well laid foundation for you. But how are you building on this foundation? If you build it in truth, the power of God will rest upon you to decree a thing and it shall be established; Jerusalem (your life) shall be inhabited - you shall be a source of supply to others. Your city of Judah is the heart of your soul (your body which is the temple of God) shall be built spiritually and your waste places (weaknesses) shall receive divine touch of sufficient grace to excel. For God will determine what must increase or decrease in your life (drying up the deep and rivers). In our dispensation, our Cyrus is Jesus Christ who is the true Shepherd who will build your temple up by the presence of the Holy Spirit in you as Jesus has laid the foundation of your life through His death, resurrection and ascension to heaven. Your foundation in Jesus shall pass the test of time even through the Refiner's Fire.
Prayer: Dear God, I'm grateful for the foundation You've laid for me in Christ Jesus. I wouldn't have had such a strong and firm foundation by my own works. Spirit divine of the Living God, I seek the release of Your supernatural grace to equip me to do the needful as I walk with You. May the walls I raise on the foundation of Christ stand the test of the fire on that Great Day. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
