DEVOTION ~ FERVENT IN PRAYER

Theme: Fervent in Prayer
Text: Acts 12:1-7

12 Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church. 2 Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword. 3 And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also. Now it was during the Days of Unleavened Bread. 4 So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover. 5 Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. 6 And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. 7 Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands.

As dear beloved child of God, you'll face diverse challenges in trying to reach out to others with the Word of God. But do not be discouraged for God will always make a way of escape in that difficult situation. The brethren of old faced more persecution than it is now in our dispensation. But in all their terrible situations, they resorted to seek the face of God than do any other thing.

In your moments of good and bad, you need to be fervent in prayer. The early church used prayer as their weapon not violence. You ought to emulate that as well, for the battle is the Lord's. Prayer is a means by which you can communicate with God. That is why the Apostle Paul, admonished the Thessalonians to; Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

God will never disappoint you if you walk in His will. The Apostle Peter received his breakthrough when intercession was made for him. You must learn to be an intercessor for your family, church, friends, etc. The more you intercede for them, the more they are able to overcome every storm in their lives. May the Lord send an angel your way to bring about your liberation in any bondage in your life.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for hearing me when I call. Grant me the strength and courage when Thou are silence. Teach me to trust You the more when there seems to be no way. Make divine ways of escape for me in difficult moments and direct my life in Your way. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
