DEVOTION ~ THE LORD, MY SAVIOUR AND REDEEMER

Theme: The Lord, My Saviour and Redeemer 
Text: Isaiah 49:24-26

24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty,
Or the captives of the righteous be delivered? 25 But thus says the Lord: “Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible be delivered; For I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children. 26 I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh, and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine. All flesh shall know that I, the Lord, am your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”



Taking clue from the animals' kingdom, we often see the weak animals become vulnerable in the claws of the mighty animals that take them prey. In the human perspective, those who have no help usually become prey to the wicked or tyrants. However, there's a message of hope to the weak from the Lord; to deliver them from it all. Yours is to draw near to the Lord and accept Him as your Lord and personal Saviour, the Redeemer of your soul from destruction. 

Anyone who puts his/her trust in the Lord, will be helped by Him. If you've become a prey spiritually to the agents of darkness, don't be discouraged, God will fight for you. The question in the twenty-fourth verse has been answered well in the subsequent verses. God is assuring you that, the captives of the mighty shall be taken away and the prey of the terrible delivered. The devil and his agents will rise and wage war against you but, they will not prevail for God, will arise to bring about your deliverance. They can present their attacks in the form of giving bad counsel to your helpers, conspiring to afflict you with sicknesses or even kill you, casting spells and evil lots for you and the likes. These and many others are the battle lines drawn in your life to ensure nothing good comes your way. But if you have God then your battles are His and must therefore be channeled to Him as such. 

In the line of battle whether physical or spiritual, you need to position God as your Captain Warrior. He will contend with your contenders; anyone who's aim is to bring you down in life, will have to defeat God first before coming to you. There's no way, the wicked can prevail against the Lord, for God will frustrate their enterprises. God shall feed them with their own flesh and they shall be drunk with their own blood as new wine. That is to say, God will bring upon them, the destruction they have in weight for you. Their evil plots will come upon them and you will only watch how the Lord will deal with them. Your deliverance will send a message to the world that the Lord is your Saviour and Redeemer. As you trust the Lord with your battles may He come to your rescue speedily. 


Prayer: My precious Redeemer, I thank You for always coming to my aid to deliver me from the wicked schemes of the devil and his agents. You're God alone and there's none comparable to You. I ask for a steadfast spirit to be alert at all times as the accuser and his agents are constantly trying to weaken my faith. Help me Holy Spirit divine to overcome every limitation to my faith even now and forevermore in Jesus' name have I prayed. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
