DEVOTION ~ A ROD FROM THE STEM OF JESSE

Theme: A Rod from the Stem of Jesse 
Text: Isaiah 11:1-2

11 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. 2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.



The prophecy of the Messiah had been written by the prophets of old and was revealed at the appointed time of the Lord. Jesus is this Messiah. He is of Jesse's descendants. Jesse is the father of David the king of all Israel. God has assured king David, his throne shall be established as his son shall ascend the throne and rule forever. The rod of authority and power therefore stemmed from Jesse's lineage. The Saviour of the world can be traced back to the family line of Jesse the son of Boaz and Ruth, and he is also the grandfather of king Solomon. 

The promises of God are Ye and Amen, He does not relent in any promise made. If the Lord establishes you, nothing can pull you down if you remain faithful to the Lord. The covenant of God with you, can also extend to your descendants if they also walk faithfully with the Lord. Let the power of God rest upon you and your family. Do not cease the flow of the Holy Spirit in your lineage, draw all into this marvelous experience. 

The Spirit of God is upon Christ that is why, He assured His disciples that, He will ask of the Father to send the Holy Spirit to empower the church in accomplishing the Great Commission. The Spirit of God is full of wisdom and understanding. The Lord gives wisdom to anyone who askes Him. By wisdom, the apostles even unto this dispensation have been able to proclaim the salvation of the Lord. 

The Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord is all enveloped in Christ Jesus. He demonstrated this in parables and teachings to make folly the wisdom of the Pharisees, Scribes and Sadducees. God can grant you also this divine knowledge and understanding of His Word if you walk with Jesus in truth and in spirit.


Prayer: Divine God, thank You for giving us hope in a dark world filled with evil. Your light illumine our hearts to walk in Your ways. Teach us to love You and walk with You. May Your promises concerning us be manifested in us and even unto generations after us. This we pray for in Jesus name. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

What inhibits you determines what comes out of you. The two elements are light and darkness. The light within produces good, whereas darkness is evil. It is recorded in  Ephesians 5:8-9 For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good, right, and true.  Declare, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, I no longer walk in darkness but rather in light. Therefore, every product of darkness within and around me is extinct. I decree that my family and I live in light, and we enjoy what the light produces in fullness. Our deeds are good, right, and true. AMEN!"
