DEVOTION ~ COMPLETE SURRENDER

Theme: Complete Surrender 
Text: James 4:7-10

7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.


Praise the Lord! His mercies has made it possible for us to start a new year (January 1, 2021). As we commence the year with many aspirations, there's the need to look at our relationship with God as well. A well established relationship with God entails a complete surrender to God irrespective of what may come our ways.

Surrender begins with submission. To avail yourself for the Holy Spirit to use you happens with a humble heart ready to serve. When you submit to God, it means accepting His will and obedient to His commands. This drives you to resist the devil's deceit and depart from any of his ways by the knowledge of the Word of God.

Purpose in your heart this year to draw closer to God. God does not shun anyone who draws closer to Him but rather welcomes him/her. In drawing closer to God, you must drop every weight of sin through confession for God is faithful and just to forgive you. Allow the Word of God to renew your mind and heart to trust the Lord faithfully. Give no room for doubts and fear as you surrender to God. The power of God will lift you higher in the year and divine provision shall locate you daily.


Prayer: I give myself away O Lord that You may use me for Your glory. Awaken the desire in me to serve faithfully, revive me spiritually to be on guard at all time and restore to me the joy of Your salvation each day of the year 2021. Thank You for the grace in the past years and for the greater grace I will enjoy in this year. In the name of Jesus Christ have I prayed. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
