DEVOTION ~ YOUR SUBSTANCES AND EVIL UNDER THE SUN

Theme: Your Substances and Evil Under the Sun 
Text: Ecclesiastes 6:1&2

6 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men: 2 A man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor, so that he lacks nothing for himself of all he desires; yet God does not give him power to eat of it, but a foreigner consumes it. This is vanity, and it is an evil affliction.



The preacher of old king Solomon in his wisdom saw the vanities of many things and wrote them down for our reprove. In today's devotion, we will look at the evil under the sun in relation to the source of our substances and how we must make use of the substances given unto us. The source of every substance you have is God. You must learn to acknowledge Him for it and make use of it to the glorification of God. Substances can be money, talent, gift, ideas, concepts, innovations, marriage, children, career, educational successes, etc. 

The earth is full of evil. Though some use dubious means to obtain their substances, there are some that really have been blessed by God. God has made such individuals the custodians of divine substances to reveal the power of God. Some have abused this blessing of the Lord and have invited calamities over their lives. If you fail to glorify God with your substance, you will labour for others to enjoy. God will not give you the power to enjoy of your labour if you do not set things right with Him. 

The rich fool in Luke 12:16-21 is the perfect example of taking pride in ones labour and not giving God the glory. The substances you have is not meant solely for you, but that you may be a blessing to anyone in need of it to the glory of God. Do not intimidate others with your substances and do not give room for evil or arrogance to prevail in your heart because of the substances you have. As the Lord required of the soul of the rich fool (Luke 12:20) He will do so to you if you abuse your God given substances. Resist every form of evil attitude now and ask of God to restore your lost substances to you and establish you to His glory. 



Prayer: Dear God, forgive me for being a bad servant in not making wise use of the substances You blessed me with in the past. I come to You this day, asking for Your enablement to regain all my substances I have lost through pride, arrogance and reckless living. Holy Spirit divine, come and teach me how best to use my substances to God's glory. I decree divine restoration of all my substances and I am using them to declare the goodness of God in the land of the living even now and forevermore in Jesus' name have I prayed. AMEN!!!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
