ONE FLESH
Theme: One Flesh
Text: 1 Corinthians 6:15-17
In yesterday's devotion we looked at the theme, "The Body of the Lord" where we learnt we must not subject ourselves to the liberty we enjoy but rather align ourselves to the body of the Lord. In today's devotion, we would looked at how we become one flesh with the things we associate with.
Our bodies are the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, and where the Spirit of God dwells, evil cannot inhabit. This means, the Spirit of God in you will by no means give room for filth to coexist with Him in your body. What is of Christ can never be likened to the harlot. So if you are joined to the harlot, you're one with her in sexual sins. Condoning to fornication and adultery makes you one with the harlot. Whatever form of sin you engage in makes you one with the sin and its master the devil. As a child of God, you need to resist these temptations by submitting to God completely (James 4:7).
What are you one flesh with? Are you married to the addictions of sexual sins, alcohol, gossip, malice, unforgiveness, bitterness, etc? These unprofitable addictions will not help you to serve God faithfully. To be one with the Father, you need to avail yourself for the Holy Spirit to use you. If you agree with the Holy Spirit, you will become one with Him; The two (The Holy Spirit and you) shall become one in the Lord (Mark 10:8; John 17:21-23; Romans 8:9-11; Galatians 2:20; Ephesians 4:4).
Prayer: Father in heaven, hear my cry this day as I come in my nothingness asking for Your mercies to forgive me for going after my own heart desires even when Your warning is clear it will lead me to destruction. I pray for a renewed mind and spirit that I make have the same mind with Jesus Christ in every area of my life even now and forevermore in Jesus' name. AMEN!
May God grant me the desire to always yearn for him that I may be one flesh with his words. Amen.
