DEVOTION ~ DYING IN FAITH

Theme: Dying in Faith
Text: Hebrews 11:13-16

13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. 15 And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

For the past few days, we have been learning about the faith of our fathers of old. They kept to their faith in all they did without doubting the promises of God. In today's devotuon, we will look at why they held on to their faith to death. To anyone without hope, death is the total end of life however, the believer sees it as the beginning of a glorious life (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

We are but pilgrims on this earth and when our days are over here, we will return home to the Father. Just as our fathers of old, we need to also look to that glorious Kingdom of God. Having accepted Jesus as our Lord and personal Saviour, we need to have faith in the New Jerusalem to be established by God. Our existence should therefore be to please God than satisfying unhealthy gratification. (John 14:1-3; Revelations 21:2;12-16; 22:1-5)

Our faith in God will make us live the lives that reveal His glory in us. Faith will guide us to offer ourselves as pleasing sacrifice to the Lord, equip us to please the Lord, possess godly fear in obedience and strengthen us even as we journey on this evil land. By this, God will be pleased to call us His children. Love each passing moment of your life in faith until you're called home by the Father.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for giving me life to be a part of this world. I pray Your  sufficient grace abide with me to walk the talk of faith in every area of my life to Your glory. This I pray in Jesus' name. AMEN!
