DEVOTION ~FAITH PERMITS AFFLICTION
Theme: Faith Permits Affliction
Text: Hebrews 11:24-26
In yesterday's devotion we learnt that Moses' parents hid him from the wicked schemes of Pharaoh (to kill the male children of the Israelites). Moses became the son of Pharaoh’s daughter by faith. However when he became of age, he refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. When faith drives you, you only move by its dictate. Faith gives you a divine identity that cannot be swapped or overturned by the wicked no matter how hard they try. Faith opens your eyes to divine hidden glory. (Exodus 2:11-15; 3:1-22)
Faith makes the believer just like Moses to suffer affliction than enjoy the pleasures of this evil age. Though the believer embraces the affliction (to suffer the affliction) yet, it is not the affliction that is being embraced but the product of the affliction. The outcome of the afflictions is what matters not the affliction. If you look to the result by faith, you will overcome the affliction. You will suffer in vain if you go through affliction which is not in the Lord. (John 16:31-33)
Moses knew God will not let him down and there's a sure awaited blessing which he will partake of if he suffers with the other brethren. The current treasures shall suffer decay, rust and even be stolen but there's a greater glory and riches that none can steal or destroy. This is only found with Jesus Christ. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed the Father's will be done not His will even though the afflictions ahead of Him was so great that He can see. But when He endured it, He has been crowned in glory. May your faith in afflictions produce divine open doors in every area of your life. (Matthew 6:19-21; Luke 22:41-44; Philippians 2:5-11)
Prayer: Thank You Father for the power of Your promises that manifest daily in my life. Strengthen me in faith that I may not miss any of the blessings that comes with putting my trust in You. Help me to denounced the pleasures of this age and do only Your even now and forevermore in Jesus' name. AMEN!
Amen
