DEVOTION ~ THE VOW OF PRAISE

Theme: The Vow of Praise
Text: Psalm 22:23-25

23 You who fear the Lord, praise Him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, and fear Him, all you offspring of Israel! 24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from Him; But when He cried to Him, He heard. 25 My praise shall be of You in the great assembly; I will pay My vows before those who fear Him.

Gratitude goes beyond just thank you, you must not just be grateful at that very moment but forever. That is why, our praise to God can never and must never cease. Together as the body of Christ, families, friends, coworkers, citizens and as individuals, we must daily give thanks to God for delivering us from our countless challenges in live.

Usually during our moments of grieve or battle, we try to pay our way out by making vows to the Lord: some vow never to repeat an action; to offer a service to God; offer a said amount of money to the glory of God. All these vows and many others, should not just be a lip service to God. Remember the Lord delivered you from your afflictions; He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted. God is never tired to come to the rescue of those afflicted with sickness, grieve, sorrows of all kinds, amongst others. God was with Christ throughout His afflictions even unto the cross and the grave. He has not hidden His face from Him but was with Him to give Him life on the third day. For when He cried to Him, He heard.

God also hears us when we call to Him for we are His dear children. Let us therefore do or fulfill what we have promised the Lord during those difficult moments. The vow of praise must be carried out in truth and humility. God knows our intents and He searches the heart, we cannot hide anything from Him. What vow have you made to the Lord? Have you fulfilled it to the latter? If you have not or have done it halfway or anyhow, it's time to ask for forgiveness and do the needful.

Prayer: Dear God, I know my ways have been deceitful in fulfilling my vows to serve You whole heartedly. Forgive me for my lies and cunning ways You've identified even before I made my vows to You. Help me by the power of the Holy Spirit to redeem my vows accordingly to Your glorification before the brethren. Let this vow of prayer of mine, be acceptable in Thy sight and grant me the enablement to carry out all I've prayed. This I ask in Christ Jesus my Lord and King. AMEN!
