DEVOTION ~ DON'T PROCRASTINATE
Theme: Don't Procrastinate
Text: Matthew 5:25&26
25 Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. 26 Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.
Glory be to God, it's another day to delve into the Word of God. We will be looking at the theme, don't procrastinate. Procrastination is being late in doing what should have been done earlier. It is the tool of the lazy man and sometimes a manifestation of pride and arrogance. The lazy man thinks there's enough time why won't he wait a little, the proud and arrogant man feels if he takes the initiative of pleading first he will be seen as weak so why won't he wait until an opportune time so he can do that.
Dear beloved in the Lord, what ought to be done now, must be done for you can never tell what will happen the next seconds. The text for consideration tells us; agree with your adversary quickly while on the way with him lest he delivers you to the judge. Never procrastinate apologies that you ought to render, for if you fail to, you will suffer the consequences dearly. As you think of the consequences of earthly apologies, may the eyes of your understanding be opened to see the essence of confessing your sins and amending your ways with God. While here on earth, your sins can be forgiven but not after you're dead. Likewise, your sins could be pardon by your brother before he files a suit against you or before the judge passes his verdict. So make use of your time wisely.
There's a judgment awaiting everyone, how prepared are you for it? Do not wait until you're damned before you plead for clemency. It might be too late to be heard. Let not your folly, pride and arrogance lead you to hell or a place of discomfort even on this earth. Who do you need to reconcile with; is it God, man/woman, an institution, a family, friend? Rise up and do it now.
Prayer: Gracious Father, in my emptiness I come before Your presence that You have mercy upon me. I have done what I ought not to do, and even what I ought to do, I failed to do for your glory. Have mercy on me, touch me with the Blood of Jesus and cleanse me from all my guilt. May your will be done in my life and empower me to live peaceably with all men. This I pray in Christ Jesus my Lord. AMEN!
