DEVOTION ~ LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Theme: Light of the World 
Text: Matthew 5:14-16

14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.


In today's devotion, we will be looking at the theme, "Light of the World." Christ Jesus possesses life that gives life to all men. Anyone who is in Christ has this light to shine in the world. So, we are light to the world. The light of Christ in has set us as a city on a hill that cannot be hidden. The power of God upon our lives by the leading of the Holy Spirit keeps us firmly on high. 

Just as you cannot lit a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, that it might give light to all, likewise must you continually shine in the world. As the light of God shines more in you, it serves as a lamp to your feet and a light to your path that you may become blameless and harmless, child of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. Radiate your light in your family, neighborhood, workplace, and everywhere you find yourself. 

You are not living for yourself but for God's glory. Therefore every conduct or action you take should glorify God. Good works cannot be hidden even when they are done silently, it speaks greatly in the absence of the doer. Let the fruit of the Spirit manifest in you that your neighbors will give glory to God. Let your light shine for God's glory. 



Prayer: Father in heaven, kindle Your fire in me and help me to keep it ablazing at all times. Spirit of the Living God, direct my ways that I'll bring light where there's darkness even now and forevermore in Jesus' name. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
