DEVOTION ~ LOVE YOUR ENEMIES

Theme: Love Your Enemies
Text: Matthew 5:43-45

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

The ministry of Jesus Christ is built on love and His teaching on love is so deep it cannot be denied. Anyone who comes to Christ must learn to love others unconditionally. The initial law which people would have stand on to say an enemy must not be loved have been broken with the Word of knowledge from Christ.

We are admonished to love our enemies and not hate them. Love them because they are part of God's handwork. What we ought to hate is the evil they practice not the individual. It even explains to us that, this was the requirement of the initial law but we couldn't hold to it well. What is expected of us is to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, do good to those who hate us, and pray for those who spitefully use us and persecute us that we may reflect the nature of God.

God does not discriminate in His provisions for humanity. He provides for us equally so must we also love equally without discriminating. It is out of this we shall earn the name as children of the Most High God. Do you have a reason why you can't show love towards someone? Remember, it will only usurp your sonship in the Lord.

Prayer: Dear God, help me fight the spirit of bitterness, wickedness and unforgiveness by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. I receive the love of God in my heart to show love to all unconditionally even now and forevermore in Jesus' name have I prayed. AMEN!
