DEVOTION ~ PERSECUTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS

Theme: Persecuted for Righteousness
Text: Matthew 5:10-12

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

In today's devotion, we will be looking at being persecuted for righteousness' sake. What it implies is that, you're suffering for choosing to walk rightly in all you do for the glory of God. Your decision to act godly will offend those who are ungodly. So, they will do whatever they have to do to make you uncomfortable in continuing to do good. But don't be discouraged, for the Righteous Judge will reward you greatly. (Luke 6:22&22)

Dear beloved in the Lord, are you being streamlined at your workplace, neighborhood, community, even in your congregation, and/or in your family for taking the path of righteousness? Don't be surprised, that's the nature of those in the world. As they are in darkness and you're of light, your presence is a threat since your light will expose them soon. Think of the conspiracy against the prophet  Daniel, the plight of the three Hebrew Boys - Hananiah, Mishael, and Azaria, don't forget the suffering of the apostles and the prophet Elijah. But in all their predicaments, God glorified Himself to give them victory. (Daniel 3;6; Acts 5:40-42; 1 Kings 19:1-4)

Rejoice in your persecution for doing good for you're a candidate for the Kingdom of heaven. Your tears and pain in this present time will be wipe away, you will have no more pain rather, you will be filled with laughter when His glory is revealed. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. (1 Peter 4:13&14)

Prayer: Give me the wings of faith to rise within the veil, and see the saints above, how great their joys, how bright their glories be. Once they were mourners here below, and poured out cries and tears: They wrestled hard, as we do now, with sins, and doubts, and fears. That I may be able to overcome my persecutors and attain the crown of glory. This I pray in Christ Jesus. AMEN!
