DEVOTION ~ RIGHTEOUS HUNGER AND THIRST

Theme: Righteous Hunger and Thirst
Text: Matthew 5:6

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

It's another wonderful day by the grace of God and we will be looking at being hungry and thirsty for righteousness. It is a spiritual yearning to ensure that righteousness prevail on the surface of the earth. A psalmist said, as the deer pants for water so his soul longs after the Lord; a spiritual thirst for the Lord for it is this thirst that stirs righteousness. Righteousness is of God, not by carnality for the carnal cannot desire righteousness. (Psalm 42:1; Luke 1:53 & Acts 2:4)

Righteousness is the quality of being right in the eyes of God in; character (nature), conscience (attitude), conduct (action), and command (word). The study of the Word of God stirs up the desire to hunger and thirst for righteousness. The Word gives insight of who the Lawgiver is as Isaiah inscribed; For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; it is he who will save us (Isaiah 33:22). Therefore, the hunger and thirst for righteousness is a stirred desire to permit and do the command of God without resistance.

The Word of God is the Bread and Living Stream, therefore, anyone who is hungry and thirsty will be filled freely without being charged (it won't cost you a thing). Dear beloved in Christ, are you hungry and thirsty for righteousness? You need the Bread of life and Living Stream to function well in all areas of your life. This can only be found in the Lord so yearn for His in filling. (John 4:14; 6:48;7:37; Isaiah 55:1)

Prayer: Father, I approach Your presence with the desire to do Your will and command. Let this hunger and thirst in me be satisfied and filled with Your Word. Empower me O Spirit of the Living God to continually hunger and thirst for righteousness all the days of my life. This I pray in Jesus' name. AMEN!
