DEVOTION ~ THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE

Theme: The Chief Cornerstone
Text: Ephesians 2:19-22

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Having studied about how Christ's grace gave us access to God's Kingdom, we can confidently say, we are citizens of heaven. This is so because, we've been built on a divine foundation which is Christ Jesus our Lord. His journey on earth suffered rejection from His own and it was of Him the psalmist said, "The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone." (Psalm 118:22)

He is the Chief Cornerstone upon which all others have been laid. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Our bodies which are the temple of God is built by the enablement of this foundation. The Holy Spirit indwells us because, He has been sent to be our Guide. Dear beloved in the Lord, as the temple of God, we need to ensure we keep ourselves holy for our foundation is holy. (1 Corinthians 3:11-17)

By our own strength, we cannot live worthy of the calling we've been called to. It is solely by the power of the Holy Spirit we can live worthy, so let us not defile our bodies by engaging in ungodly acts. The Chief Cornerstone has laid us as living stones. As living stones, we are being built up as a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:5)

Prayer: Thank You heavenly Father for the grace of laying us on a Great Foundation in Christ Jesus. Help us by the power of the Holy Spirit to mould our lives to suit perfectly unto this Foundation. This we ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
