DEVOTION ~ FASTING AND PRAYERS

Theme: Fasting and Prayers
Text: Ezra 8:21-23

21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions. 22 For I was ashamed to request of the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road, because we had spoken to the king, saying, “The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.” 23 So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer.

Have you ever boasted in doing something successfully only to realize you need a little help to accomplish it? I'm sure your response is yes. We all in one way or the other need help in our lives' journey. In the dispensation of Ezra, he saw putting a request before the king for protection as a shame especially to God's glory because of the testimonies he gave the king about God. However, he chose to fast and pray to save the situation.

Fasting and prayers are key important things to practice in order to break away from limitations. Jesus Christ said, this one does not go out easily unless by fasting and prayers. Our God knows no limitations or impossibilities. We must therefore approach Him and entreat Him to help us out of our challenges. Indeed, “The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.” Look to God in that situation and you will be victorious by denying your desire and seeking God's will to be done (that's fasting and prayers).

Let the Word of God fill you than bread for your ability to overcome lies in the Word (as you fast and pray, you study the Word zealously). The power of God, does not in anyway fail, that was why Ezra stated, "So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer." God will answer you too, take a step of faith and proclaim a fast for yourself, family and all that concerns you.

Prayer: In You O God lies my strength. I receive power and grace to fast and pray ceaselessly. Answer me O God speedily that I may proclaim Your glory in my testimonies and for all to attest this really is the Hand of God. This I pray in Christ Jesus' name. AMEN!
