DEVOTION ~ GOD'S CHOSEN

Theme: God's Chosen 
Text: 1 Peter 2:9&10

9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.



Today's text happened to be one that we've studied last year February, on the theme, "Who you are in Christ Jesus". If you know who you are, you'll only rely on God for all things to fall in pleasant places for you. Dear beloved in the Lord, the below are your portion as God's chosen:

i. A Chosen Generation: The Lord chose you in particular for a purpose. Jesus specifically emphasized on it that you did not choose Him in John 15:16. If you have been chosen by someone to help in a task, you need to be obedient and submissive to the individual. This is what you need to do before God too. Be humble not arrogant.

ii. A Royal Priesthood: Your calling is to serve in the tabernacle of the Lord. There exist a better tabernacle not built with physical strength and carnal mind but of the Spirit and wisdom of God. You no longer need a priest to draw near to God for His tabernacle is within you. The mandate of the Great Commission is a priesthood one, to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 3).

iii. You are Holy: In Christ you've been made anew. You're no longer your old self of filth but a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:16-19; Ephesians 2). You are holy for the Holy Spirit dwells within you.

iv. His Special People: God has counted you among His special people because you've accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour. You will not perish but will have everlasting life ( Ephesians 1; Revelations 7:4; 14:13).

Go out there and proclaim who you are in Christ Jesus to a perishing soul. Bring a soul out of darkness by your words and actions. God has chosen you, don't give the devil a chance to demoralize you in any way. Rise up and do what is expected of you as a Christian.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to identify and understand who I am in Christ Jesus. Give me the power to overcome every deceit of the devil to demoralize me from confessing this. I declare, I am God's chosen, destined to enjoy the fullness of His glory in Jesus' name. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
