DEVOTION ~ BAPTISM
Theme: Baptism
Text: John 4:1-4
4 Therefore, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John 2 (though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples), 3 He left Judea and departed again to Galilee. 4 But He needed to go through Samaria.
Baptism is an act of sprinkling, immersing either partially or wholly a repented soul into water to cleanse him of his sins and usher him into the Christiandom. John the Baptist was known purposely for calling people to repentance and baptizing them in the river Jordan. Before his arrest and beheading, his disciples mentioned to him Jesus was also baptizing. He acknowledged Christ must increase as he decreases. Baptism is therefore needed to draw souls to God. (John 3:22-36)
Dear beloved in the Lord, it is not all of us as Christians that can baptize but we are all called to lead sinners to Christ. The Apostle Paul mentioned; For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect (1 Corinthians 1:17). We need to increase the level of our personal and collective evangelism in our homes, communities, workplaces, nation and wherever we find ourselves. A day should not pass you by without telling a soul about Jesus Christ. If it means dropping some habits or vacate a place which is not allowing you to evangelize, you must be ready to do so.
If your Judea (the place of your beginning) is not encouraging your spiritual growth, then you must move to Galilee (the journey that directs your course). It was on the way to Galilee that Christ passed through Samaria. You have been lazing all this while in your Judea, move to Galilee for a soul is awaiting to hear the message of Christ in Samaria (your place of taking rest to enter into your greatness).
Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus Christ, fill me with wisdom to know the time and season. So that I may act promptly to every God given assignment. Help me to identify my way in life that I will always be at the right place at the right time even now and forevermore. AMEN!
