DEVOTION ~ THE EVANGELISM PROCESS

Theme: The Evangelism Process
Text: John 4:7-10

A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

In today's devotion, we will be looking at Jesus' quest for a drink from the Samaritan woman. We learnt yesterday that Jesus was by the well at about noon. It was during this time, the woman came to draw water. That's unusual since drawing of water is either done in the early hours after dawn or the setting down of the sun. To establish a conversation, Jesus asked her to give Him a drink from the well.

Dear beloved in the Lord, the propagation of the Gospel takes a little conversation and not an itenary of what to do. Exchanging pleasantries or greeting people can open the door for you to begin sharing the Gospel with others. Take not Jesus' disciples were not around before He started the evangelism process. You must also not solely depend on others or the church to organize an evangelism before you reach out to others with the Gospel.

The Jewish-Samaritan relationship did not deter the Lord from speaking with the woman. Likewise, ethnicity and tribalism must not be a barrier to your advancement of the Gospel. The woman was amazed a Jew could asked her for a drink and so was quick to respond with a question to the Lord. Christ's response to the woman, is an awakening to us that, however sufficient we are with what we have, without Christ, it will mean nothing. The gift of God to humanity is Jesus Christ the Messiah of the world.

Prayer: Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, I desire to be filled with the Living Water. Satisfy my thirst with the Living Water that I may be strengthened to proclaim Your Kingdom and salvation to all souls even now and forevermore. AMEN!
