DEVOTION ~ EVERLASTING LIFE

Theme: Everlasting Life
Text: John 4:13-15

13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” 15 The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”

In yesterday's devotion, we learnt about how confident the Samaritan woman was in having something to draw the water with whereas Jesus had nothing. We stated that we often focus on situations than relying on the Lord to overcome it. We however noticed she started asking salient questions about who Jesus is. The response Jesus gave her will be our focus for discussion today.

The water Jesus is offering is an everlasting life one, that refreshes the soul and spirit continually. On the contrary, the wisdom and provisions of this earth are insatiable; wisdom is not embedded in an individual for there's no end to wisdom, complete well-being is not assured in taking medications, drinking lots of water will not guarantee absence of thirst and likewise will gluttony take away hunger. The worldly desire of man can never be satisfied as the edge to go higher causes unrest.

It is only in Christ we can be fulfilled. The study of the Word of God and continuous fellowship with the Holy Spirit eliminates the craving of the flesh. We're put right to know the Father’s will above ours. Our spiritual and eternal satisfaction is solely in Jesus, nothing can give us this satisfaction in life.

Prayer: Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray the springing of Your Living Fountain in us to attain everlasting life. Commune with us Holy Spirit that we may be daily satisfied in every sphere of our lives and in all we do. AMEN!
