DEVOTION ~ NOTHING TO DRAW WITH

Theme: Nothing to Draw With
Text: John 4:11&12

11 The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? 12 Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”

In yesterday's devotion, we looked at how Jesus evangelize to a Samaritan woman by just requesting for a drink. He made known to the woman the gift of God and the living water He has to offer anyone who asks. In today's devotion, we will be looking at the woman's response. Just like the woman, many have failed to experience the glory of God because their focus is on what is unprofitable.

She believed she has an upper hand because she has something to draw with whereas Jesus has none. She was focusing on the situation than looking up to the Lord. Do you often feel or act in the same manner? Coming to the Lord requires faith to attain victory than earthly possessions. No matter how deep the well of life is, faith will help you draw from it with ease. Having lost the argument, she finally asked the salient question; Where then do you get the living water?

She further asked if Jesus is greater than Jacob and his sons. Yes, Jesus is far greater than them because He existed before Jacob and his sons dug the well. The fountain of the Living Water is Jesus Christ. If you desire to drink of it, you must first draw closer to Him and accept Him as your Lord and personal Saviour.

Prayer: Dear God, I come before Your presence seeking a quench to my spiritual thirst. Holy Spirit divine of God, give me faith where reason fails that I may obediently heed to God's calling. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
