DEVOTION ~ PENTECOST

Theme: Pentecost 
Text: Ezekiel 37:11-14

11 Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!’ 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13 Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. 14 I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it,” says the Lord.’ ”


Praise be the Lord, it's another Whit Sunday (Pentecost). It's the seventh Sunday after Easter and the outpour of the Holy Spirit on all flesh. We are empty vessels without the Spirit of God because we have no power of our own as we depend on Him to do all things.

God is speaking to us through the prophecy from the dispensation of the prophet Ezekiel that, our tears have been heard concerning the issues of our lives -  ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!’  But God is telling us today that, that helpless situation is receiving life now. The graves (troubles and challenges that are suppressing us) will be opened for us to come out of it. Which grave are you in; Is it marital grave, financial grave, the grave of insecurity amongst others? Call on God and He will deliver you from such graves.

Everyday of the Christian's life is Pentecost for God has put His Spirit in us. Declare aloud, because I have the Holy Spirit in me, I have life and have overcome the spirit of untimely death. By the power of the Holy Spirit's presence, I am possessing all my possessions in Christ Jesus in every area of my life. I am more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus name. AMEN!


Prayer: Come O Holy Spirit of God, take total control over my life. I receive healing, spiritual strength, wisdom, knowledge and understanding in all that I do to attain victory. I am unstoppable and nothing can restrain me in life. This I pray in Christ Jesus' name. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
