DEVOTION ~ THE SERVANT'S ATTITUDE 2

Theme: The Servant's Attitude 2
Text: 1 Peter 2:21-25

21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 22 “Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth”; 23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

In yesterday's devotion, we looked at the servant's attitude 1 where we learnt that, as children of God we ought to submit to our superiors irrespective of their attitude or relationship towards us. In today's devotion, we will be looking at the second part of the servant's attitude focusing on Jesus our perfect example of a good and faithful Servant.

Christ was without sin yet suffered as though He had sinned or committed a crime. His life was purely built on the truth. He was willing to die for our sins. In His suffering, He had all it takes to prevent it, retaliate or even do the worse but He chose not to; when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously. Vengeance is of the Lord not ours. We must learn to forgive and let go off pain/regrets.

Dear beloved in the Lord, we need to be willing to serve as Christ did. What is required of us must be done well; whether it is to God or man. If Christ had not served well, our liberation and healing wouldn't have been attained through the stripes He suffered in dying on the cross. He has also led us back to God. Our services must also produce positive outcomes not only to benefit us but all those around.

Prayer: Dear God, by the power of the Holy Spirit, equip me with a willing spirit to serve faithfully. Help me not miss the mark of a faithful and humble servant in all that I do. Grant me the courage to live worthy of your glory. This I pray in Christ Jesus. AMEN!
