DEVOTION ~ SUBMIT TO RULERS

Theme: Submit to Rulers 
Text: 1 Peter 2:13-17

13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— 16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.



In every nation, there exist governing bodies that rule it. Irrespective of the age, wealthiness, educational background, physical abilities or any other reason, you ought to obey those put in charge to rule. We are admonished to submit to them because though they are rulers on this earth, yet it is the doing of the Lord. Submitting to them by adhering to tax laws, corporate social responsibility regulations, sanitation laws, road regulations amongst others that brings about developments and wellbeing of the people. (Matthew 22:15-22)

Orderliness is one nature of God you must also possess so as to frustrate the devices of the wicked and put to silence the ignorance of foolish men. The lawless in society will see the need to be lawful through your abiding/adhering to rules and regulations. Your Christian life also adds value to your perspective in life; as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Give respect to all people and treat them with love. Obey God's instructions and do His will.


Prayer: Dear God, I seek the spirit of humility and faithfulness to do Your will. Give me wisdom to submit well to authorities that I may not go contrary to Your ways. This I pray in Jesus' name. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
