DEVOTION ~ EXCUSES

Theme: Excuses
Text: Luke 14:16-20

16 Then He said to him, “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, 17 and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’ 18 But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’ 19 And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ 20 Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’

Glory be to God for another blessed day in His presence. Our Devotion today will focus on excuses. The context under which we are going to study on excuses is based on our justification for not honoring the Lord now. Have you ever given yourself a good reason why the things of the Lord should take a hold as you do other things?

The man who invited his friends to dine with him is the Lord whereas his invited guests are the human race. God has freely invited us to dine with Him. However many of us just like the guests have couple of excuses to give. We justify why God should be secondary but not prime in our schedules. Most of have try to seek our interest above God's will for our lives.

God want to have a moment with you, but you have choked yourself with endless lost of friends you must visit. Material possessions have also taken the best part of us. Dear beloved in the Lord, without Christ, life will be miserable. Open the door of your heart and welcome God in.

Prayer: Dear God, grant me a discerning grace to test all things. I pray the spirit of faithfulness to do Your will even now and forevermore in Jesus' name. AMEN!
