DEVOTION ~ THE GUEST LIST

Theme: The Guest List
Text: Luke 14:12-14

12 Then He also said to him who invited Him, “When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. 13 But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. 14 And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

In yesterday's devotion, we looked at carefully making rightful choices that will bring us honour (exaltation) at the end than being humbled by our pride. In today's devotion, we will be looking at the guests at our feasts. We often invite people to grace our memorable occasions. These guests usually are not just ordinary people but people we believe can add value to the event. But is that the right thing to do?

It's no crime inviting such individuals but there's the need to also consider the marginalized in society when throwing out your invitation card. The Lord's caution is that, if we invite those that can invite us back, then the blessings has been paid. However, inviting the poor, maimed, the lame, the blind, and anyone who is unable to do so, attracts blessings from God.

It takes the heart of a just and righteous man to consider that, the Lord created us equally. We must therfore not discriminate in the matters of life. Dear beloved in the Lord, our lifestyle today, has a correlation with the outcome of the future. Let's therefore honour God by inviting the marginalized as our guests at our feasting table.

Prayer: Come Holy Spirit of the Living God, fill me with the gracious love of God, that I may love all unconditionally. Grant me the strength and wisdom to stretch out my hands to invite the marginalized during my feasting. May I be a good host to such ones at all times. This I asked in Christ Jesus. AMEN!
