DEVOTION ~ THE FEAST OF BLOODSHED

Theme: The Feast of Bloodshed
Text: 2 Samuel 13:28&29

28 Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, “Watch now, when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, ‘Strike Amnon!’ then kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be courageous and valiant.” 29 So the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king’s sons arose, and each one got on his mule and fled.


We are continuing with the story of the children of David; Absalom and Amnon. The invitation has been honoured, and like we learnt yesterday, some people only attend programs to gratify self than to ensure the purpose of the gathering is achieved. Amnon being the target would only be attacked when his heart is merry with wine. For he would have been too weak to attack back.

Absalom gave instructions to his servants; first watch, and then take instruction. Dear beloved in the Lord, the adversary always watch every step you take. You're being watched until you can be taken off guard. It is for this reason we've been admonished to watch, for the devil our adversary is roaring like a lion seeking someone to devour. It's essential to be watchful as a child of God; watch and pray at all times to overcome the schemes of the devil and his agents. (1 Peter 5:8; Matthew 26:4) 

Wine can represent both liquor and the desires of the flesh. Do not let the desires of the flesh entice you for it is a means by which the devil can find an opportunity to destroy your life. The second part to Absalom's plot is for the servants to take instruction; when I say to you, ‘Strike Amnon!’ then kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be courageous and valiant.”  Oh my God! The devil always steals the Word and use it for evil. His Words were the exact of God to Joshua. Dear beloved in the Lord, it's time to act on God's Word for there's power and authority in His Word. Flee from the devil and his agents like the rest of the princes. Do not look back rather look up to God and you will be saved. (Deuteronomy 31:6; Joshua 1:9) 


Prayer: Abba! Father, I pray for the spirit of watchfulness as I pilgrim through this earth. I receive the power of the Holy Spirit to be conscious at all times and in all that I do. I will never be taken off guard by the power of the Holy Spirit. I am secured in the Blood of the Lamb of God even now and forevermore in Jesus' name. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
