DEVOTION ~ WHAT'S THE TESTIMONY?

Theme: What's the Testimony?
Text: Titus 1:10-13

10 For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, 11 whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith

A testimony is an evidence or proof about something or someone. In this regard, a testimony has been given about the lifestyle of the Cretans by one of their prophets;  “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”  What testimonies do people have to say about you?

Dear beloved in the Lord, the admonishing of Apostle Paul to Titus is, in the midst of the church are evil people who seeks to draw the attention or focus of the body of Christ from Him (Jesus Christ the Saviour) to satisfy their own selfish desires. Unnecessary arguments that does not add up to the salvation of souls. People even in this dispensation want to proof their pastors, place of worship amongst others are better than others. Are we serving one Christ or diverse Christ? Such are the ways of idle talkers and deceivers.

Instead of arguing with such people to defend your congregation, rather show them to the reason for the establishment of the church. Jesus is the head of the church, he has broken the wall of separation between the Jewish and the Gentile nations unifying us. There's therefore no distinction in the body of Christ. All the churches fall under one head and so must strive to build the church than disintegrate it.

Prayer: Dear God, I pray for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to walk in the light of Christ and not in the way of idle talkers and deceivers. I possess the spirit of God to rebuke and silent the voice of deceit making its way in the church in Jesus' name. AMEN!
