DEVOTION ~ AVOID DISSENSION
Theme: Avoid Dissension
Text: Titus 3:9-11
9 But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. 10 Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, 11 knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned
The mark of Christ in us is Love not hatred. Our actions must show in nature for all to see that indeed we are the children of God. Arguments that do not bring about salvation should not be encouraged amongst us. The center of the Gospel for our dispensation is Jesus and nothing else. Unnecessary argument about traditions, laws that must be kept and not kept will not draw lost souls to salvation. Therefore let's focus on the message of Christ Jesus than any other thing when we meet as a family in Christ.
A divisive man is one that is not ready to make peace with all. If such a man has been rebuked and warn on several accounts yet refuses to make peace, such a person must be rejected for he is leading himself to destruction. The book of Proverbs puts it as this; He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy (Proverbs 29:1). Arguing continually with such people rather escalates the issue, that's why the Apostle Paul gave the admonition that, "Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition".
Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus Christ, touch my heart to do away with hatred and grant me wisdom not to engage myself in things that do not bring glory to Your name. AMEN!
Amen!
