DEVOTION ~ THE HERITAGE OF JACOB

Theme: The Heritage of Jacob 
Text: Isaiah 58:13&14

13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy day of the Lord honorable, and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, 14 Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”



There's is a heritage for us who are in the Lord. No one can usurp it from us because it is in a safe hand. The safety lies in Jesus Christ whose name surpasses all names in the heaven, earth and in the sea. Obedience to God sustains this heritage for us for that reason, our desire should be to please the Lord than to satisfy our lusting cravings. 

For the past days, we have been looking at fasting and its accompanying blessings. What the Lord has to add to it is observing the Sabbath right. Dear beloved in the Lord, in our dispensation, everyday is a Sabbath where we ought to take delight in doing good. God is calling on us to love unconditionally, resist the pleasure of this age, honour the Lord, and allow the Holy Spirit to speak through us that our ways might be truthful in all perspectives. If we observe the ways of the Lord without fail, then we shall ride on the high hills of the earth (taking dominion in all things). 



Prayer: Dear God, instill in me the spirit of discipline to walk in Your will wholeheartedly. I pray the Holy Spirit cause me to ride on the high hills of the earth to subdue the earth as it has been purposed by God for my life. I declare I'm a partaker of the heritage of Jacob in Christ Jesus name. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
