DEVOTION ~ DO IT
Theme: Do It
Text: John 2:5-8
5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” 6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.
In yesterday's devotion, we saw how the blessed Virgin Mary, Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding at Cana and the intervention of the mother of Jesus when the feast run out of wine. Today's devotion is a continuation of what she said to the servants of the ceremony. Though she didn't get an encouraging report from Jesus, yet she went to the servants and said to them, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” In life, you need not get all it takes before you move to the next level. Go all out in faith and God will make divine provision for you. Some people have never been able to achieve their dreams because they focused more on impossibility than the possibility.
Dear beloved in the Lord, God is telling you to do it, why are you telling yourself it can never be achieved? God uses what you have to move you forward and to turn around your ugly situation into a beautiful one. If the servants had seen the task Jesus gave them as hectic, they would have failed to keep to the words of the blessed virgin Mary. Twenty to thirty gallons of water in a waterpot multiplied by six gives one hundred and twenty to hundred and eighteen times of going to fetch water to fill the waterpots to their brim.
Despite the challenge, the servants obeyed the Lord to the later. Obedience is the key to the breakthroughs and testimonies, just do it as you have been divinely told. After filling the waterpots, the next unthinkable instruction is, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” Eeeeieiii! Ordinary water? Oh mine! The servants still kept to the earlier instruction to do what the Lord instructed. The works of God overrides the laws of carnal wisdom. Faith does the unthinkable when reason fails. Reason brith doubts but faith produces incredible results, so do it in faith.
Prayer: Abba! Father, help me to put on fire my faith in You. I quench every spirit of fear and doubt in me by the power of the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ, I riase the altar of faith, prayer and obedience in every area of my life and in the lives of all that concerns me: we are moving in miracles, testimonies, signs and wonders in all that we do. AMEN!
