DEVOTION ~ THE GOOD CONFESSION
Theme: The Good Confession
Text: 1 Timothy 5:11-16
11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, 15 which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.
Confession is known much amongst us Christians especially amongst the orthodox, protestants and reformers, every service is characterized with affirmation of faith. In affirming our faith we confess who we are and stand for in the Lord. In this regard, confession is not just about recognizing sin but having faith in Christ Jesus as our Lord and personal Saviour. The Apostle Paul admonitioned that, as Christians, we ought to flee from all forms of evil and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness so as to fight the good fight of faith.
Dear beloved in the Lord, confessing Christ is the best thing that can happen to anyone. There is a land of promise prepared for us who keep to our faith in the Lord where we will enjoy everlasting life. Before anyone can enter into this divine life, judgement will preceded it. Jesus is the Righteous Judge and anyone who believes in His name (confesses Him as Lord) shall attain salvation. Let not your confession be a religious routine of recitation but be put in action through good deeds. Let your Light shine before men that they may give glory to God the Father.
Prayer: Almighty God, giver of life and the Deliverer of souls from perdition, glory be to Your name for Your great love and kindness towards us even in our unfaithfulness. We pray surrendering to You completely in mind, heart, body, soul and in spirit. We confess Christ's Sonship as our personal Saviour and declare to follow Him all the days of our lives even unto death. This we pray in Jesus' name. AMEN!
Amen!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, He's Lord. May our deeds confess that, Christ is our Lord and personal saviour in Jesus name, Amen!!
