DEVOTION ~ A GOOD FOUNDATION
Theme: A Good Foundation
Text: 1 Timothy 6:17-19
17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
A man's true ego is usually measured by his wealth. Most people often become pompous when they acquire wealth but only a few are down to earth irrespective of the wealth they have acquired. The admonition from the Apostle Paul is, the rich (whether financial, intellectual, or any other material riches) should not become arrogant nor trust in uncertain riches. Do not trust in the gift but trust the giver who is the Lord God Almighty. He qualified it as uncertain because, there's no guarantee such riches will remain with you forever especially when your relationship with the Lord is weak.
Dear beloved in the Lord, God has entrusted riches in your care to share with others and not to become cynical. Obedience to the command establishes a good foundation for a better life with the Lord. The building blocks to lay on the foundation are good works, charitable deeds, kindness, being considerate, empathic towards the needs of people, amongst others. Do not let any form of riches prevent you from laying a good foundation for your eternal life.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for blessing me with divine riches. I pray the Holy Spirit to teach me how to make good use of these riches to bring honour and glory to Your name. I declare my charitable deeds shall lay good foundation for me in Christ Jesus name. AMEN!
Amen

ReplyDeleteOf course, there's more blessing in giving than receiving. May the grace help us to use our God given riches to reach out to others in need in Jesus name, Amen!!
